The Aurora Mood Clock. Was My Face Red!

“This is your clock speaking. I know what you were dreaming. Was my face red! Yup, but now it’s blue, and it’s time for you to get up.”

No, not really. It doesn’t speak to you, nor does it read your thoughts and change colour accordingly. It is the Aurora Mood Clock, and it sets the mood with its multiple colour changes, rather than reading your mood. Relieved?

Your bedroom clock can be your best friend or worst enemy. It doesn’t do anything to you except keep track of time; but there’s the rub. It’s too late, it’s too early, it’s taking too long, it’s not taking long enough – it’s morning, GET UP! And the poor little clock gets a decisive bash on the head for just being the one to tell you that.

The Aurora Mood Clock doesn’t just stand at your bedside. It tries to please you. Although it has a digital time and date display (displayed very clearly) and the dreaded sound alarm function, it also changes colour every hour on the hour. Not only the face changes colour, but the whole clock, including the case, glows in up to 12 different hues.

You can switch off the changes during the night, but it can be nice to peep at the clock and know whether you’ve been asleep or not, just by the colour. The colour changes in themselves keep a track of the passage of the hours. If you do switch off the colour changes during the night, just a tap on the top will light it up for 30 seconds to show you the time. I can’t help feeling, though, that the ambient, friendly glow is rather a warm, pleasant presence.
